Furniture Flips - How It Started
I love learning from other people! They inspire me! They help me believe that I can do that "thing" myself. I randomly saw the following videos showing up during COVID and I couldn't get enough of them.
My First Flip
Lauren is amazing and I wanted to learn and watch as many of these as I could.

I kept going back and forth if I thought I could do this. I have never restored anything before and don't have much experience painting.

Fast forward through most of lockdown with COVID...
I was driving to work one day when I noticed one of my schools families that live by the school had a coffee table outside of their house with a sign that said "FREE" on it.

It took me 3 days before I contacted them, but I finally decided to do so!

They were so excited to give me the table!!
I found out that it was a Restoration Hardware Coffee Table that they purchased years ago for $2,000. WOW!!!

It was SOLID wood and so heavy. But with the dad's help we got it in my car.

These were the initial photos before any work started:

The Work
As you can see there is the sticky residue of the adhesive from baby bumpers all over this table.

So I set off to start cleaning. It took HOURS of peeling and scrubbing to get the adhesive off. I had to be very vigilant the entire time as there was a very unique grain of wood on the table that I didn't want to scrape anything the wrong way.

I then took the table out onto the driveway and sanded (by hand - I don't have an electric sander just yet) the entire table.

Once I had the table sanded (which is no joke by the way, that is HARD WORK to do that by hand) it was time to prime.
The table took 2 coats of primer as I wanted to make sure everything was covered up nicely.

After primer, I moved onto paint. I chose to use the Valspar Furniture Paint in the color Grey Suit. I wanted to stay with a medium grey so that it is usable in any space. I wanted my first piece to sell easily! Everything I have learned is to stay with pretty neutral colors at first until you make a name for yourself.

The table took about 3 coats of paint. Because of the grain of the wood you really had to take your time getting the paint into everything.
Next came one coat of the topcoat to make it stain resistant and scratch resistant.
I was so pleased with the final product!

I listed the coffee table on FB Marketplace and it sold in 1 day!
I hope that you will choose to follow me on Instagram and Subscribe to my YouTube Channel.
I am so excited for my next flip which will be released soon!
